Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

Understanding the unique challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia, New Community Extended Care provides specialized structured activity services to support our residents with cognitive impairments. Our caregivers are specially trained to address the needs of those with cognitive challenges. The daily structured activity program provides clear and close monitoring of all residents with cognitive impairment, minimizing weight loss issues, falls, injuries and rapid decline. Families are supported with their needs and understanding of the disease process through meetings. We utilize different visual equipment, music, arts and crafts, etc. to continue to stimulate and help with memory retention.

New Community Extended Care offers a daily structured activity program for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, which helps those with cognitive impairment minimize the progression of their condition.

New Community Extended Care provides annual and as-needed dementia care training for staff members.

Families are welcome during care plan meetings and are encouraged to ask questions. New Community Extended Care staff members update families regularly and answer all of their questions.

The daily structured activity program at New Community Extended Care helps the facility ensure the safety of residents. The program provides the opportunity for staff members to directly observe, feed, encourage meal consumption, avoid falls and injuries and avoid elopement. The facility has 24/7 security and a keypad wander guard system to ensure residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia remain in the building.
